Why do people love feeling productive and using to-do lists… and what can that teach us about the future of project management? To-do lists are incredibly popular, particularly amongst the productivity-obsessed set. And they’re popular with us too – because we’ve used them to (finally!) retire timesheets from our studio management software. But why, after thousands of years, do people still love to-do lists so much? Why are we so productivity obsessed? And how can to-do lists replace timesheets?
To explore these topics, we’re going to start by heading back in time…
The history of to-do lists (and why we still use them)
To-do lists have always remained popular, particularly amongst the productivity obsessed set. But why? What makes the humble To-Do List so loved? We want to take you back through the ages to explain a little bit of history behind To Do lists and the effects it has on our Brain. Come see how Benjamin Franklin was able to to do so much with his time
Why we love feeling productive
Humans have this need to have a sense of progress and achievement to remain motivated. It’s the motivation part that we may not completely understand. The obvious answer, of course, is that people like money (or other tangible fruits-of-labour), so they like making progress towards obtaining it. However, there are many out there that believe the sense of progression is more motivation than that. We have known for a long time that denying a sense of progress is torturous. Explore why we that feeling of Achievement is such a powerful tool

How leaders can make their teams more productive
Leaders and Business owners have a huge impact on how teams perform. Productivity is so important for one’s happiness and talking about how productive you are improving productivity is crucial. Being able to understand all the Motivational factors are important and we have Frederick Herzberg and Abraham Maslow to help us get a better understanding of these.
This one is for the head honchos.

5 simple rules to help creatives be more productive
Now all the ones in charge are all up to date on how to motivate us, let’s take a look at how 5 simple rules can help us be more creative. We might all think the people able to multitask and do more at once are the most productive. Think again!
The old saying rings true, Work to Live, don’t live to work. It’s important to plan ‘you time’ into your business calendar. To find ways to exercise on the way to (or at) the office and to make time for fun in the workplace. Because it turns out you’re a human, even when you’re at work.
How to time track and actually enjoy it
Timesheets are time-consuming and there is (was) a need to rid the creative world of what was considered a necessary evil.
Streamtime’s to-do system populates a weekly task (around their existing tasks) when a job is set to ‘happening’ in the job management system, simplifying time tracking overall.

How different design experts use time tracking to boost productivity
Whether you’re a freelancer or work in an agency, tracking your time is a necessary evil. Not everyone likes filling in timesheets, but it’s a tool for the entire company, or yourself, to understand where time is being spent and if you’re being paid for the work that you do. After all, it’s hard to estimate how long it’s going to take to be creative.
We went out and spoke to 10 experts – designers, creative directors, consultants, project managers, to find out how they get the most out of time tracking. It was great to hear that a lot of them share our idea that a Timesheets, in the old traditional sense, isn’t always the best way to go and maybe To Do Lists might have a better role to play.
Benefits of time tracking for business owners
The cynics among us may see tracking time as a way for business owners to keep tabs on their staff, but think of it this way, if you have to work late to get a job done, or spend extra hours on a job because of complications, isn’t it a good thing that your company knows you put the extra hours in?
As a result of doing timesheets, jobs will become more profitable and if the business is making money, that’s good news for everyone.
Important Things Every Designer Needs To Consider About Deadlines
THIS IS URGENT! Haven’t we all seen this before? As a designer, you are faced with clients who always need designs urgently. It is important that at the very beginning you give yourself, as well as your clients realistic deadlines or things can get a little messy. Remember, communication is key when it comes to all Teamwork and when speaking to your client. If everyone knows where working is sitting, everyone has the opportunity to plan accordingly.
